Overview

Asst. Prof. Tomislav Madžar, MD, PhD is a specialist in occupational and sports medicine. He is a director of private health institutions Ustanova Vaš Pregled and Poliklinika Life and assistant professor at University of Applied Health Sciences in Zagreb. He also serves as a vice president of Institute for sports medicine and health improvement and as a president of Croatian Society for Football Medicine of the Croatia Medical Association. He has held the position of special advisor for health and sports of the President of the Republic of Croatia during the mandate of Kolinda Grabar Kitarović.

He graduate at School of Medicine at University of Zagreb as a Doctor of medicine. As a post-graduate doctoral student of Biomedicine and Health he has received PhD on the thesis Psychological predictors of sports injuries in professional football and handball players. He completed a specialization in the field of occupational and sports medicine at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Zagreb, as well as a specialist post-graduate study in Occupational and Sports Medicine. He also completed the specialist post-graduate study of Management in healthcare.

As a doctor, he has been cooperating with football and handball clubs for many years, and has been a member of the medical teams and professional staff of the Croatian handball and football national teams. He is a certified doping controller at the Croatian Institute for Toxicology and Anti-Doping.

He is a member of numerous professional and humanitarian organizations: the Health Commission of the Croatian Handball Association and the Croatian Medical Chamber, the Croatian Society for Sports Medicine at the Croatian Medical Association, the Health Commission of the Croatian Football Association and the Health Commission of the IHF (International Handball Federation), the Health Commission of the HOO (Croatian Olympic Committee), Croatian League against Cancer.
