Overview

Dr. Alen Juginovic is a physician and postdoctoral researcher at Harvard Medical School, where he investigates the impact of sleep quality on health. He serves as an instructor at Harvard College’s Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology, teaching “Neurobiology of emotions and mood disorders.” Dr. Juginovic is a member of the Editorial Board for the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine, the official publication of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. He is also the author of the book “Sleep Science Made Simple”. He is actively involved in sports sleep medicine as a consultant and researcher. He is an advisor for companies in the sleep field. Dr. Juginovic regularly attends international conferences and events as a keynote speaker or panellist. His research and leadership have earned him several prestigious awards, including the European Citizen’s Prize, Best Young Project Manager in Croatia, two Rector’s Awards, and the Think Global Award.

Since 2017, Dr. Juginovic has been instrumental in organizing annual biomedical conferences in Croatia, aimed at inspiring the next generation of medical leaders. These events, some organized through his NGO Med&X, have attracted over 2,400 participants from more than 30 countries. The conferences have featured 10 Nobel Laureates and numerous medical luminaries, including the Dean of Harvard Medical School, the Chief Medical Officer of Microsoft, and the Chief Scientist of the World Health Organization. Med&X also partners with research lab and clinics from leading biomedical institutions around the world, including Harvard Medical School, Cleveland Clinic and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, in order to offer top young physicians, scientists and students from Croatia internship opportunities.
