Overview
Dr. Alberto de Lorenzo is a renowned nephrologist specializing in clinical nephrology and hypertension. He has worked in prominent medical centers in Spain and completed his training at New York Presbyterian Hospital (Columbia University). He has also participated in fellowships during his medical school period at various European centers, including Careggi University Hospital (University of Florence, Italy) and the Surgical Hospital (Friedrich-Alexander University, Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany). He holds a Doctorate in Medicine, a Master’s degree in Hemodialysis, a Master’s degree in Cardiorenal Pathology, and a FIFA Diploma in Football Medicine. He participates as investigator in several international clinical trials and is the author of numerous international publications, balancing his professional practice with teaching responsibilities as a clinical professor for medicine residents and in a Master’s program in Diabetic Nephropathy. Currently, he serves as the director of the Hypertension and Renal Risk Unit at the University Hospital of Getafe (European University, Madrid), where he also attends to critically ill patients with renal failure in the Intensive Care Unit and the Burns Unit. Additionally, he is a member of the Nephrology Service at HM Sanchinarro University Hospital (Madrid). Dr. de Lorenzo collaborates with the Medical Services of Real Madrid CF; his sports-related focus includes the renal protection of athletes subjected to supplements and high-protein diets, as well as researching measures for performance optimization.
